I Love Books!!
(Even though I can’t really read them anymore)
Ive always enjoyed reading. I used to love getting the Weekly Reader and Troll newsletters (NERD alert!) To date, there are only 2 books I’ve been able to read completely overnight. The first was Night by Elie Wisel which caused me sleepless nights for about a week afterwards. The second was A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry, which, I got so engrossed in, I just started reading, and didn’t put it down until the end. That book is something like 500 pages.
(It was during a time in my life when I needed to escape from my world for a little bit.)
There’s no way in the world I could do that now, as MS robbed me of the attention span and the eyesight to do such a thing. I listen to books now and am able to get through them much faster – I have a 1 book every 2 weeks goal. Yup still a nerd. Reading a book “the normal way” as I used to though? A distant pleasant memory.
For very emotional reading give Night, A Fine Balance or The Fault in Our Stars a try.
For the record, I do not recommend A Fine Balance for an escape.
If you like to work out a puzzle while reading give Agatha Christie a try.
If you’re one for Literary Fiction – The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
One more suggestion – always try to read the book in addition to watching the movie! It is almost always better!
Any good book suggestions for me?
