Happy All Year! Please stay safe!

Auld Lang Syne is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song. It is well known in many countries, especially in the English-speaking world, its traditional use being to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight. By extension, it is also sung at funerals, graduations and as a farewell or ending to other occasions.

The song’s Scots title may be translated into English literally as “old long since”, or more idiomatically, “long long ago”, “days gone by” or “old times”. Consequently “For auld lang syne”, as it appears in the first line of the chorus, might be loosely translated as “for (the sake of) old times”.  -Wikipedia

Winter Wonderland – Micheal Buble

Lyrics:
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We’re happy tonight.
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we stroll along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Will pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say: Are you ready?
We’ll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you’re in town.

Later on, we’ll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we’ve made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Will pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say: Are you ready?
We’ll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you’re in town.

Later on, we’ll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we’ve made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Straight no Chaser – 12 Days of Christmas

1998

2008

So I understand that this is the actual time that the 12 days of Christmas takes place,  so why not give it a thoroughly enjoyable nod.  I learned about this very entertaining song, thanks to my blog buddy Nancy. I love their harmony, but I also like that they seem to genuinely be enjoying themselves. Thanks Nancy!

Straight No Chaser (SNC) is a professional a cappella group which originated in 1996 at Indiana University. In 2006, a 1998 video of “The 12 Days of Christmas,” gained widespread popularity and subsequently led to a five-album record deal with Atlantic Records in 2008.

The group formed in 1996 at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.  Their name was inspired by the title track of Thelonious Monk’s 1967 album, Straight, No Chaser, and is a conscious evocation of the popular American slang phrase often employed in requesting a drink. Wikipedia
